Max Kidruk, Nick Groom and Andrzej Pilipiuk join the huge group of literary guests who will visit this year’s Pyrkon. Each of them creates something fantastic – science-fiction books, interpretations of the works of great authors or novels that, despite their different worlds, are united by recurring characters. Max Kidruk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Max is a science-fiction writer originally from Ukraine. He loves to travel and has already visited more than 35 countries! His first novel – entitled “Mexican Chronicles. The Story of One Dream,” was published in 2009 and won second place in Ukraine’s Coronation of the Word literary award. For the next three years he published various travel memoirs, but his real literary breakthrough came in 2012, when he wrote a novel entitled “Bot.” It has been called the “first technological thriller” published in his country. Over time, he shifted to a slightly different style, developing the drama and psychological side of his novels. He has written more books – “The Inner Side of Dreams” (2016) and “Godlessness” (2018). The latter – published in 2018 – was in the TOP 20 of the “Bookstore E” list for 13 weeks, and in first place for 7 of those weeks. In 2022, together with his wife, he founded his own publishing house, under which he published a novel entitled “Colony”, which became the beginning of his most popular series – “New Dark Ages”. This book conquered the TOP 20 of the “Bookstore E” list for as many as 24 weeks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nick Groom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Nick is a professor of English literature. In his adventure of being a professor, he has mainly taught at the University of Exeter in England, and has been teaching at the University of Macau since 2020. He has also been to the University of Chicago, Stanford, Oxford and Bristol. He became famous in fantasy circles because of his publications on the works of the famous writer J. R. R. Tolkien. We know him, among others, from the book entitled. “Twenty-First-Century Tolkien: What Middle-Earth Means To Us Today, which every fan of the worlds created by Tolkien knows (and if not, they should). Nick has also written (or edited) more than 20 other books and more than 60 scientific articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Andrzej Pilipiuk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Andrew is an archaeologist by training and a regionalist by passion – he has written publications dedicated to the history and culture of Wojs\u0142awice. He made his literary debut with the short story “Hiena,” written in 1996. It was there that the character of Jakub W\u0119drowycz first appeared, which he later included in his novels and short stories many times. He is the author of several sequels to the adventures of Pan Samochodzik, and even has links to comic books in his literary output. He has written more than 70 books, and in his work he often experiments with various literary genres. He combines elements of fantasy, horror, sensation and humor, interweaving everything with a lively narrative and original characters. In 2002 he was awarded the Janusz A. Zajdel Award of Polish Fandom for his short story “Kuzynki.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few words in conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We know that the Literature Zone at Pyrkon will be visited by a lot of really great guests, and it will be hard to decide who to go see – but we are sure that these three are worth a visit!
