Suddenly, it turns out that six hours have passed, you\u2019ve learned the rules of three new systems, someone is explaining the difference between \u2018draft\u2019 and \u2018sealed\u2019 to you, and your new best friend is trying to convince you that \u201cthis army really needs one more tank\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to the BWC Zone\u2013the land of Board, War and Card games, where dice roll faster than time flies, and the \u201cone last round\u201d exists just in theory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve always wanted to embark on a fantastic journey\u2014this year holds something special. At the tables with \u201cTalisman\u201d you\u2019ll be able to do more than just snatch the Crown of Command: you can meet Bob Harris <\/strong>(the game\u2019s creator) himself, and even play a game with him. Yes, you\u2019ve read that right. You can win (or lose) against the author.<\/p>\n<\/div>

While we\u2019re on the topic of absolute legends, the BWC Zone will also be visited by Paul Bonner<\/strong>, an illustrator, well known by the fans of classic fantasy, as well as wargames, card games, and tabletop roleplaying games. His characteristic works full of intense colours were on and in \u201cDungeons & Dragons\u201d, \u201cMagic: The Gathering\u201d, and projects created for Games Workshop or Rackham. It\u2019s his illustrations you\u2019ve seen in the \u201cMutant Chronicles\u201d game, or the cult gamebook series \u201cLone Wolf\u201d, including \u201cGrey Star the Wizard\u201d and \u201cWar of the Wizards\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The prototypes zone: it\u2019s where future obsessions are born<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some people watch game premieres. Others play them before they get popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the prototype zone, you’ll be able to test out as many as 10 different games and chat with their creators. It’s a place brimming with fresh ideas, experiments, and mechanics that could become absolute hits in the board game world in a few years. In other words: it’s the perfect opportunity to say, “I played this before it even launched.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duels, tournaments, and how-to-play for everyone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the BWC Zone you don\u2019t need to know every rulebook by heart, or to have a dice collection bigger than your fridge. Many of the events have been prepared for those who just want to start their journey with board, war and card games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Drugi Pojedynek\u2019 section of the Druga Era fan club<\/strong> invites you to step into the worlds of Unmatched and Neuroshima Hex. You can learn the rules, test your skills at the tournament, and see how quickly \u201cone game\u201d turns into a sudden urge to buy your own set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Go On Board team <\/strong>has prepared something for the fans of dynamic duels and spectacular clashes. You are all invited to a Tekken the board game championship, or you can just learn the rules if you wish to enter the world of fighting tournaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans of history and magical atmosphere are sure to be satisfied as well. Students and lecturers from Fantastyczny Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu<\/strong> are preparing their historical games and wizard chess inspired by the world of Harry Potter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, we have to mention Archon Studio<\/strong>, who will bring its new board game set in the world of Quake. Can you capture the atmosphere of the hellish FPS in a box with a board and some figurines? The answer is: you sure can! And you can see it for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Card games, card games everywhere<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If the tell-tale sound of cards being shuffled gives you an immediate serotonin boost, the BWC Zone will again become your natural habitat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the course of the convention, you can learn how to play, see presentations or join tournaments of many popular trading card games. Waiting for you at the tables will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Paints, minis, and the splendour of Z\u0142ota Pyra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                  Right here, you can learn how to play different wargame systems, how to build an army, and how to properly paint your miniatures. All of that surrounded by the smell of paints, plastic runners, and ambition bigger than the space in your display cabinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Once again, the Zone will be home to the Minifigure Painting and Modeling Contest \u201cZ\u0142ota Pyra\u201d. Registration opens on June 5, 2026<\/strong>, and all the details will be on the Pyrkon website. If you\u2019ve ever looked at a figurine you painted thinking \u201cthis is my magnum opus\u201d\u2014it\u2019s very likely that this contest is right up your alley.<\/p>\n<\/div>

                  Board game library\u2014the most dangerous place at Pyrkon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                  You know how this goes. \u201cLet\u2019s just sit down for one game\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Four hours later you\u2019re explaining to your friends the rules of a game (of which existence you\u2019ve learned three hours earlier), and someone\u2019s just brought in another box \u201cbecause this one takes just 40 minutes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  The library will once again be the heart of the board game part of the Zone. You’ll be able to rent a title, sit down with friends, and immerse yourself in a world of strategy, bluffing, cooperation, and betrayal at the table. And if the rules prove too complicated, don’t worry. There will be people ready to teach you how to play. Or you can try another game\u2014there are hundreds to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
