Pyrkon is making its own ZINE!

That’s right! After years of talking about comics and meeting the creators, it’s time to add something completely new to our palette. Here in the Comic Books Zone, we are preparing a zine – the first in the history of Pyrkon, completely our own and created by you! This time you will not only read and see comics at the con – you can make your own frames become a part of Pyrkon.
We want the Pyrkon zine to be a bit like the convention itself: diverse, colorful, maybe noisy, sometimes personal. A place where jokes from the con life, fantastic epics in three frames and totally twisted visual experiments will end up next to each other.
‘But what exactly is a zine?’ some of you may ask.
To put it simply, zine (or fanzine) is an independent, fan magazine created out of passion, outside of large publishing houses, by a small team with a common idea. It’s usually addressed to people with similar interests. A perfect place for short comics, mini-stories, illustrations or visual experiments, as well as simply things too strange or crazy to go into “ordinary” publishing!
Why does Pyrkon need a zine?
Comics at Pyrkon are more than meetings with the creators and shelves full of books. The Comic Books Zone is also the creators who are just getting started, fans drawing other fans in queues, sketching hobbyists, and everyone who wants to express something in their own way.
Pyrkon comic book zine is going to be:
- the voice of all of us – a place for stories and frames
- a space for experiments – in form, style, and humour
- most of all, a great souvenir from the convention – a collection of comics that smell like the halls, sleepless nights and a ‘zapiekanka’ from a food truck.
