The author of the “Circus Lumos” series will be a lecturer at the Literature Section!
Are you unable to decide which program events to add to your personal Pyrkon list? Meet the next lecturer of the LiteratureSection – Aleksandra Polak! Maybe she will steal your heart and you’ll choose her lecture to come to? 🙂
Korean studies and checkered notebooks
Aleksandra Polak is a graduate of Korean studies and a lover of journeys distant and near. She wrote her first novel in primary school in quite a thick checkered notebook, decorating the cover with concealer swirls. The following notebooks were even thicker than the thickest, and with no sight (at least to the naked eye) of concealer. She’s released two novels from the series “Circus Lumos” – King of Hearts and Pearl Lady. The books tell of Alice, an ordinary high school student, whose life changes completely when she meets the mysterious Hadrian. This is the moment when she understands that darkness has started engulfing the world and it can only be defeated by one’s own light- the Heart.
Right now the author is working on the next book in the series.
Walking on the ground (on both feet) and in Gdansk (often)
In love with the charming corners of Gdansk, she walks between its narrow streets, trying to note down all the ideas, worlds and scenes that come to life in her head. As she writes, she abandons reality, but apart from these incidents, she tries to keep both her feet on the ground. She likes reading John Green and Carlos Zafon the most, and comes back to Harry Potter with sentiment. She stubbornly believes in magic and making dreams come true, and treats smiling as a remedy for all worries.
Korean Monsters, Inc. – in other words, about the lecture
On Pyrkon you will have the opportunity not only to get Aleksandra’s autograph, but as well to listen to her lectures on the most interesting deities and monsters of Korean beliefs. During the lecture you will have the possibility to learn what exactly popculture constantly borrows from the old faith. Come on and join in!
