Fonda Lee – the talented author of fantasy novels – is set to visit this year’s Pyrkon as a Guest of the Literature Zone!
Fonda Lee – author of the highly acclaimed fantasy series Green Bone Saga
Fonda Lee is an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author, best known for her Green Bone Saga series, which includes the novels “Jade City”, “Jade War,” and “Jade Legacy,” as well as the prequel novellas “Jade Shards” and “The Jade Setter of Janloon”. Her most popular series, the Green Bone Saga, is a unique blend of epic fantasy with the atmosphere of a gangster family saga, inspired by wuxia cinema and stories about mafia dynasties. The series takes place on the island of Kekkon, where magical jade grants its bearers superhuman abilities – but also becomes a source of conflict, political tensions and brutal power struggles. The series stands out not only for its dynamic action but above all for its complex characters, moral dilemmas, and a well-crafted world where tradition clashes with modernity. It’s a story about family, loyalty, honor, and the price of power that has won the acclaim of both readers and critics worldwide.
Her most recent book is the science fiction novel “The Last Contract of Isako.” She is also the author of the fantasy novella “Untethered Sky” and several young adult novels: “Zeroboxer,” the Exo duology, and the “Breathmarked” duology, co-written with Shannon Lee. Fonda is also a recipient of the World Fantasy Award, the Locus Award, and a six-time winner of the Aurora Award. She is also a multiple Hugo Award and Nebula Award finalist. Her novels have been listed as best books of the year by NPR, Barnes & Noble, Syfy Wire, and others. “Jade City” has been translated into fifteen languages, was included on TIME magazine’s list of the 100 best fantasy books of all time, and has been optioned for television production. The author has led writing workshops at Clarion West, Viable Paradise, and Aspen Words, among others.
Prior to becoming a full time writer, she was a corporate strategist. She holds a black belt in martial arts and has a passion for action movies. Originally from Canada and the Pacific Northwest, she currently resides in the Boston area.
