Something ends, something begins! Meet the first guests of Pyrkon 2027

21 June 2026

Another edition of Pyrkon, full of magic and fantastic energy, has come to an end! We finished this year with a whopping 344 entries in the “Guests” tab, and right now, with a spark in our eyes and a map of new worlds in hand, we are announcing the first three (well, technically 7) names for Pyrkon 2027. These guests will appear in the Literature Zone, the Film & TV Series Zone, and on our concert stages.

Please welcome: Graham McTavish, Grady Hendrix, and Laïs.

And if you’re looking for more inspiration, news, and plans for the upcoming convention —make sure to check back here often. But for now, here are a few words about our guests!

A face you know well from the largest fantasy worlds – Graham McTavish

Graham McTavish

The first guest of Pyrkon 2027 you’ll get to know today is an actor and narrator, known both from the theater stage as well as the silver screen and TV. His rich portfolio includes roles that have gone down in the history of modern fantasy. Some of the most important among them are:

  • Dougal Mackenzie in the “Outlander” series
  • Dwalin in “The Hobbit” trilogy
  • Sigismund Dijkstra in “The Witcher” series (Netflix)
  • Ser Harrold Westerling in the series “House of the Dragon”
  • King Atlan in the movie “Aquaman”
  • The voice of Arius in the animated series “Devil May Cry”
  • The voice of Dracula in the series “Castlevania”
  • The voice of Charlie Cutter / Zoran Lazarevic in the “Uncharted” game series

Furthermore, he is the co-author of “Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other”—a humorous travel journal and guide to the history and culture of Scotland, which he wrote alongside Sam Heughan.

Like gravity, you cannot escape his work – Grady Hendrix

Grady Hendrix is an author whose stories pull you in like a magic spell—a mixture of the grotesque, nostalgia, and pure horror that leaves a lasting mark on the reader. The creator of titles such as “Horrorstör”, “How to Sell a Haunted House”, and “My Best Friend’s Exorcism”, he has a knack for blending pop culture tropes with sharp social commentary.

He also wrote “Paperbacks from Hell”—a historical overview of the paperback horror boom of the 70s and 80s, for which he received the Bram Stoker Award. His books have been translated into many languages, and some are making their way onto the screen.

He jokingly says about himself that he is very, very beautiful, so if you decide to meet him, don’t let it fluster you.

And finally, let’s dance the biggest Chapelloise in Pyrkon’s history together with Laïs!

If you have ever danced the Chapelloise at Pyrkon, there’s a good chance you already know one of the songs from next year’s Convention guests. It is the band Laïs who created the famous “‘t Smidje”—a song that has accompanied group dances at conventions, festivals, and fantasy events all over Poland for years. Now, the artists will visit Pyrkon to perform much more than just the one cult-classic track.

The band members include:

  • Jorunn Bauweraerts – vocals, percussion, shruti box (a traditional instrument originating from India)
  • Nathalie Delcroix – vocals, harp
  • Esther Lybeert – vocals, synthesizers, viola, percussion
  • Eva Schampaert – vocals, percussion, guitar
  • Saar Suffys – vocals, clarinet, saxophone, piano
