Come, sit at the table, roll the dice… or, come along to the most important event of the RPG Zone at Pyrkon 2026!

13 June 2026

We have to admit, with no false modesty: this year’s RPG Zone is looking as good as a campaign, meticulously prepared by the game master. It’s full of well-known characters, surprising turns of events, and the promise of adventures, which are just asking for you to roll initiative.

Guests who make this campaign unique

This year, people well-known in the world of tabletop roleplaying games will sit at the Pyrkon table once again. Among many guests visiting us from abroad we have Spenser Starke and Rowan Hall of Darrington Press, the creators of “Daggerheart” – a system as exciting as a critical hit at game night. We’re also joined by Dominic McDowall of Cubicle 7, responsible for the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k RPGs, which is a real treat for fans of darker stories and RPG classics.

Chris Birch of Modiphius Entertainment, the creator of systems such as “Star Trek Adventures” and “Discworld”, will take you on a journey through faraway galaxies and alternate realities. At our table we’ll also have Ray Chou and Felix Isaacs of Mythworks, as well as representatives of Rowan, Rook & Decard, known for their titles “Spire” and “Heart”.

A unique point of view on RPG will be presented by Jon Peterson – the hobby’s historian, creating records that for decades have been accepted as the common narrative by the whole community of tabletop fans.

The Polish side will be represented by Daniel Mizieliński, Tomek Kreczmar, Karczmarz, Lans Macabre, Adrian Kaszuba, and others. Each of them brings something unique to the table – from classic campaigns, to a more experimental approach to storytelling.

Panels that change the game

The agenda of the RPG Zone is full of topics touching upon the core of roleplaying games. We recommend these panels:

  • “Magic of Words, Words of Magic” / „Magia Słowa, Słowa w Magii”,
  • “Between narrative and immersion: when the mist really settles on your clothes” / „Między narracją a immersją: gdy mgła naprawdę osiada na ubraniach”,
  • “Don’t trust anyone—everyone is playing a game” / „Nie ufaj nikomu – wszyscy grają”, or a look at social engineering in storytelling games.

Some other especially intriguing events include Jon Peterson’s lecture on the history of RPGs, as well as panels on game design and worldbuilding.

Live RPG – an initiative that draws viewers into the game

Among other attractions on Cosplay Stage, you will be able to watch “SMOKI I BĄBLE (Dragons and Bubbles)”: an RPG adventure set in the world of The Amazing Digital Circus, fully improvised and played live by the Polish cast of the series. In the story, run by Michał Matuszak and Mor3-0n, viewers will have a way to influence the game and what happens to the characters.

This very stage will also host “Starcie MG’ów: Ta Historia Jest Za Krótka Dla Nas Dwóch (GM Brawl: This Story Is Too Short For The Two Of Us)”, organised by Gospoda RPG. It’s an improvised play, during which the party is thrown into a story told by several GMs at once. If you want to watch controlled chaos and absurd narrative at its finest—you’ll have to see it.

In the RPG Rooms, among other attractions, we have prepared the “Niezbadane ścieżki losu (Unexplored Paths of Fate)” game in the “Star Trek Adventures 2 ed.” system, as well as “Szalona sesja na żywo (The Crazy Live Game)”, crazy in more than just its name. The Game Master will narrate, but it’s the audience that will make decisions for the characters, and “roll” tests. What exactly does that mean? You’ll have to wait and see! But be prepared for a real spectacle.

Workshops, or from idea to system

A real adventuring forge will start on Friday. At the opening of the RPG Zone agenda, Grant Howitt himself will run the “Kitbash Game Design Bonanza”, or an intensive game development course 101.

Moreover, Akademia Erpegowa’s workshops presented by Marcin “Fileus” Tarka and Marcelina Falińska-Tarka will blend theory and practice—like a Game Master finally showing the players all of the campaign cards.

RPGaming: a place where dice do the talking

In RPGaming, waiting for you is almost a hundred game masters of DMG – Game Masters on Duty – ready to run a game for any willing participants. You can also leave your own story in a “Doomed Dice Gallery”, because, as everyone knows, the dice can betray you when you least expect it, and failure can start the greatest of adventures.

For the game designers among you, we’ve prepared a portfolio review and design workshops with the team of Rowan, Rook & Decard, where the participants will get insider tips and tricks on creating antagonists, cities, and whole game systems. Whereas, the Night RPG Jam will let you create your own game from scratch – at a gruelling pace reminiscent of a boss fight without a long rest.

Lastly: a Pyrkon-wide investigation

One of the most immersive attractions planned is “The Disappearance of the Alchemist” – a storytelling ARG taking place around the premises of Pyrkon. The participants play agents of the Inquisition, traversing the space of the convention and trying to solve the mystery of an alchemist that disappeared – like travelling to new locations in an RPG campaign.

The RPG Zone at Pyrkon is more than just some events on a program. It’s a well-rounded, multidimensional campaign, where every participant can become a hero—or at least someone to survive a luck roll.
