Make space in your agenda—and loads of it. Here’s the summary of the total madness in the Workshop Zone!
25 May 2026
In the Workshop Zone, we’re making sure your brain cells are always invigorated – here’s the first challenge of the year! Using our summary, add the workshops you’ll be attending—or those you’re really looking forward to—to your Pyrkon agenda. Feel free to share this news with your crew!
To make it more of a challenge, there’s plenty to choose from! Are you up to it? Here’s a quick rundown of what awaits you this year. We know that many of you want to spend your time being creative and productive, learning the practical secrets of professional work, and then to leave the convention with something you’ve created yourself. There are plenty of options, so without further ado, grab the agenda and get planning!
Recycle your clothes
Is an extraordinary outfit something you dream of? One that’s inimitable by the normies, cause it’s impossible to buy on the high street? Wasted Couture, a group of costume designers for movies, TV series, and even rock stars, invites you to their workshop: “Pyrkon Metamorphosis – Festival Look with Wasted Couture”. Bring your old jacket, either denim or just one from the back of your wardrobe, and with the prowess of those sewing magicians you’ll turn it into a real gem! Mad Max fashionistas will turn green with envy 🙂 You’ll learn techniques for customisation, upcycling, and patch composition. You don’t need experience, just come and be creative.
I’m a Sarmatian
Do you want to try your hand at painting, and Baroque aesthetics straight from Adamczycha are what calls to you? We have a rare opportunity for such refined artistic palate, behold! Graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Anna Rottau and Mateusz Jasiński (who painted for projects such as Netflix’s hit series “1670”), will teach a workshop titled “Create your own Sarmatian self-portrait! Painting workshops in the style of 1670 the series”. During 4 hours of class you will investigate behind the scenes of the production and, step by step, create your own miniature self-portrait on a brass plate that… you can turn into a necklace!
Note: At signup, you can upload your photo that the trainers will turn into a Mediaeval style, so you can use it as reference!
“If you can dream it, you can do it.”
- Voice acting lessons: Would you like to test your skills with the microphone? You can do that, and professional voice actors Joanna Kudelska, Bartosz Wesołowski, Mateusz Narloch and Łukasz Fober will help you along the way. You’ll focus on breathing exercises, enunciation and fascinating talks.
- Chain mail, or how to be a knight: It’s the third time when Moimira comes to Pyrkon to teach you the chain mail linking basics. It’s the knowledge for future cosplays and designs. And what do you need? Well, where there’s a will (and loads of patience), there’s a way!
- Fiery photography workshops: Brinn Photo and Mate Playing with Fire will serve a solid dose of knowledge for those willing to accept it: on how to take the most spectacular photos with fire in motion, and not set yourself ablaze in the process. Get your cameras ready and don’t forget to pack a spare memory card! You don’t want to miss your chance for the perfect picture with models dancing among sparks and flames.
NEW: Science Workshops Corner (PCC, level 0)
This year’s cherry on top is the unique collaboration between the Workshop Zone and the Science Zone! This area, open around the clock, will show you that academic knowledge and speculative fiction are the two sides of the same coin. What will you find there?
- Adam Mickiewicz University’s section ‘Fantastyczny UAM’: At the “Historical costume sewing” workshop, you will stop looking at a needle as if it’s a dangerous artifact. Under the trained eye of a pro, you’ll learn the basics of tailoring. Meanwhile, researchers from the Faculty of Modern Languages will take you on a journey through intriguing cultures, where geometric precision meets freedom of brushstrokes, in their “Following the ink trail: Harmony in every movement”.
- ‘Magical Forest’ by Poznań University of Life Sciences: Events spanning from biology to absolute magic! Younger participants may create a companion for themselves at the “Make your own power animal”. Dr Natalia Leciejewska at “Bird atelier of creativity” will help you make handpainted artifacts out of real feathers. At “First aid for fantastic creatures”, you’ll take on the role of a forest ranger and learn actual veterinary knowledge. In “Herbarium for witches and wizards”, Izabela Maćkowiak will reveal the secrets of garden plants and during the “Elixirs and potions of power” the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition will prove that the kitchen is really a lab fit for a mage. To top it off, Dr Eng. Cezary Urbanowski invites you to join him at “Symbols and fetishes enchanted in animal skulls” – a skull painting workshop with stories about what seers of old could read from skeletons of forest animals.
The challenge was issued, our cards are on the table – now it’s your move. Plan and sign up for the workshops, before the spots run out. Feel free to start a countdown to the most creative days of the year.
The Workshop Zone is waiting, see you at Pyrkon!
