Filip Taterka returns to the Literature Zone with two lectures!

14 May 2026

This year’s Pyrkon is a must-see for all those who are interested in the mysteries of ancient Egypt, archaeological riddles and their pop-cultural interpretations – thanks, among others, to the lectures of Filip Taterka, a guest of the Convention.

About our guest

The upcoming Pyrkon will surely be a richer experience thanks to the presence of Filip Taterka, Ph.D – an Egyptologist who deals with discovering the secrets of ancient Egypt on a daily basis. He is the author of numerous publications, including the book „Opowieści znad Nilu. Opowiadania egipskie z okresu Średniego Państwa” and the first Polish translation of “Letter to M. Dacier”, in which Jean-François Champollion announced the groundbreaking principles for reading hieroglyphs.

Mężczyzna w okularach i ciemnym swetrze, z długimi włosami i brodą, stoi za stołem z laptopem, mikrofonem i butelką wody. Ma na szyi naszyjnik z zawieszkami. W tle widoczny fragment krzesła i ekran projekcyjny.

What to expect

Although he professionally deals with ancient civilizations, Filip Taterka, Ph.D does not shy away from contemporary pop culture and follows trends in Polish and world fantasy on an ongoing basis. This combination of scientific passion and fandom interests makes him a particularly noteworthy guest for the participants of the event.

His lectures perfectly fit the character of the Convention, combining reliable scientific knowledge with motifs well known to fans of fantasy and science fiction. In his lecture “The Myth of the Pyramid Power”, which will be held in English, he will look at popular theories about the alleged supernatural power of pyramids – from ancient mysteries to their presence in literature and sci-fi films, where they are often attributed to their cosmic origin or unusual energy. This is a great opportunity to confront pop-cultural ideas with what we really know about the civilization of the pharaohs.

In turn, during the presentation of “The Teachings of the Egyptian Wise Men”, the researcher will show a more “mundane”, but nevertheless fascinating face of antiquity, reaching for the old teachings on life, morality and power. For fantasy fans, it can be an interesting insight into authentic sources of inspiration, from which creators who have been building worlds full of priests, rulers and ancient knowledge have been drawing for years.

See you there!

Come by if you like those special moments when science meets fantasy!
