Joonas Suotamo — the actor embodying Chewbacca to visit the Star Wars Zone.
Every Star Wars enthusiast knows Chewbacca — the lovable representative of the Wookiee species; a warrior, smuggler, and mechanic. Two actors have portrayed Chewie so far, and one of them — Joonas Suotamo, will be a guest at this year’s Star Wars Zone.
Star Wars and basketball
Joonas Viljami Suotamo is a Finnish actor and basketball player known to Star Wars fans for his role as Chewbacca in the films The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. He also served as the double for Peter Mayhew in The Force Awakens.
During his basketball career, he managed to reach the highest league in Finland — Korisliiga. He played three games for the Finnish national team, and 66 games for the junior national team.
In the upcoming series The Acolyte, our guest will portray a Jedi master from the Wookiee species — Kelnacca.
Apart from Star Wars productions, Joonas also played the role of The Scourge in the Willow series.
