If you are an admirer of the written word, you buy books by the dozen, and each purchased copy gives you the thrill of excitement… If you spend your free time on novels, spend all your pocket money on books to add to your impressive library, and your biggest dream is to meet the author of your favourite story, the Literature Zone is a place for you. It’s the only place where you’ll find out where writers get their ideas for their stories from, ask them what is going to happen in the next volume of the series or ask the most important question in the world – when this volume will be published. However, the Literature Zone includes not only meetings with authors and autograph signing sessions, but also discussion panels and lectures conducted by both invited guests and Pyrkon-goers.
Lectures are an integral part of the Pyrkon program, because they are not only a fantastic source of knowledge on various literary topics, they are also a great opportunity to listen to someone with similar interests. In order to provide you with the greatest lectures, we extend invitations to both writers and translators as well as you, dear participants. Lectures are the perfect opportunity to share your passion and vast knowledge with other Pyrkon-goers, as well as to start engaging discussions, often lasting long after the meeting. The Literature Zone is a space where you can listen to inspiring speeches devoted to literature!
Discussion panels are also events worth attending during Pyrkon! These are moderated discussions, during which you will find out what the invited writers think about a specific topic. So if you are curious about how writers deal with criticism, whether there is a topic that they deliberately avoid in their novels or what thoughts they have about the coherent construction of a world, then the panels will be a great opportunity for you to learn about different perspectives on the issue. It is also a very good opportunity to ask your favourite writer questions (who does not dream of asking about the date of publication of the next volume of your favourite series or finding out where its author drew inspiration from?).
On the other hand, autograph signing sessions are a great opportunity to get the autograph of your favourite author, or even (if there is time) exchange a few words with them or take a photo. So if you dream of getting an autograph on your beloved book, you can take it with you! What’s more, autograph signing sessions and photo ops with our guests are completely free, so feel free to queue up!
From the published news and the magical “guests” tab, you will easily find out who is set to visit Pyrkon during the upcoming edition. But do you know who we have had the pleasure of hosting in the over twenty-year history of the Pyrkon Fan Convention? Over the years, thousands of guests have appeared in the Literature Zone – from Poland and the world, both the lesser and the more widely known ones. Each of them contributed something unforgettable to the history of the event and remained in our memory for a long time. At the Pyrkon Fan Convention, there will never be a shortage of our domestic authors, translators and foreign creators, you can be sure of that!
