A number of amenities on Pyrkon grounds!

At the Pyrkon Fan Convention, there are a number of amenities designed to facilitate the participation of people with disabilities and special needs. All halls and program rooms are accessible to wheelchair users – in each of them there are lifts, and at selected stairs (including in the PCC, in hall 5 and in the so-called “cross” between halls 7, 7A, 8 and 8A) warning signs will be installed. 

Those who need it, can use toilets adapted to the needs of people with disabilities – they are located, among others, in halls 3A, 5, 6A, 6B, 7 (mezzanine), 8, 8A, in the PCC and at the northern entrance and in hall 11. In the Eastern Hall, there will be a toilet with a changing table. The family room (also with a changing table) will be located in the PCC at level 0, next to the toilet for people with disabilities.

In front of the Festival Office (in hall 10) there will be a special map prepared by Brajl Media – it will be a convex, contrasting map adapted to the needs of the sighted, visually impaired, blind, as well as the people of short stature or those unable to read. 

Participants will also receive a Communication Card – a set of simple pictograms that will facilitate communication with people with hearing difficulties or in a crisis. 

For those who need a break from excess stimuli, the Constrained Stimuli Zone has been prepared – an intimate space in which up to 25 people will be able to stay at the same time. There will also be earbuds there for hire.

How did we adjust the program of the event?

It is undeniable that at such a scale of the event – over 2,000 program events, 30 concerts and 200 guests – it is extremely important that each participant feels comfortable and safe, regardless of different needs. Therefore, as part of the “Accessible Pyrkon” campaign, people with disabilities can, among others, use early entry to the lecture (except for program events that are fully booked), reporting such a need to the room staff at least ten minutes before the start of the attraction.

In addition, a number of locations – such as the Earth Hall, the Arena, the Cinema, the Cosplay Stage, the Fire Scene and the Water Stage – are marked as places where there are sound and visual effects that can cause visual discomfort or epileptic attack in some people.

In the interest of people with hypersensitivity to stimuli, the organizers also prepared lectures tailored to their needs. These are all the program events that will take place during Pyrkon in the Small Auditorium– the speeches of guests and speakers will be held in dimmed light and with muted sound.

Thanks to the commitment of the organizers and the support of experienced partners, Pyrkon is constantly developing as an open, accessible and inclusive event. All the solutions were introduced with one common goal in mind: to ensure that every person, regardless of their needs or limitations, can fully enjoy the Convention. Because fantasy is a world of imagination without borders – and this is the place Pyrkon wants to be for all participants.
