Become a Game Master on Duty
Perks
- Pyrkon ticket for you
- special T-shirt
- access to the back room of RPGaming, where you can prep your game in peace
- a spot in a communal convention accommodation (subject to availability!) Needing a place to sleep may be taken into account when reviewing applications
- other fun surprises
Duties:
- Each Game Master on Duty (DMG) is required to be on call for 12 hours in 3- or 4-hour shifts, appointed by organisers; specific times are scheduled individually.
- The DMG is required to contact the responsible organiser or volunteer on call before and after finishing their own shift. The DMG shall do this at least 10 minutes before their shift.
- Before their first shift, the DMG shall sign the volunteering agreement.
- If there’s no potential players and there’s not enough time left in their shift for a game, the DMG may report to the responsible organiser or volunteer on call and finish their shift earlier. The agreed upon time to play a game is at least 90 minutes.
- The DMG initiative aims to show TTRPGs to as many people as possible. We ask you not to GM for your friends and we encourage you to let different people have a go at the game.
- The DMG is obliged to maintain order and comply with Pyrkon’s regulations while game mastering.
- The DMG is required to abide by the Game Master on Duty Code.
Recommendations from the organisers:
- We suggest that each DMG has one adventure prepared, with player characters at the ready, so that they can GM immediately.
- At each table, there’s a 1 hour break after 3 hours of game. During the break you can finish up your adventure, however we ask you to leave at least 15 minutes for table prep before the next game.
- We want to hear what you think during Pyrkon. Please give your feedback to the organisers of RPGaming or to the volunteers on call there.
Note: Game Masters on Duty have to be 16 or older.
