What’s the deal with the Board Games and War Games Zone?
Pyrkon is full of amazing attractions, but only here does respite and relaxation mix with a pinch of competition. As every year, the Board Games and War Games Zone will provide a space for you and your friends to experience unforgettable moments at the tables with board games, war games and card games!
For board games fans
The Board Games and War Games Zone this year is packed with attractions, but its heart remains the game rental shop. This is where you should direct your steps if you have decided to play a casual game of your favorite board game, or try something completely new with your friends. The most dedicated board games fans will have a chance to get their due praise by taking part in board game tournaments. There will also be publishers’ booths there, where industry specialists will promote their latest productions. Visitors will have a chance to learn about new developments in the Polish board game market at those stands, as well as take part in presentations.
For war games lovers
During this year’s Pyrkon, the Board Games and War Games Zone will host a person who knows as much as possible about war games. Jervis Johnson, as it is him we have in mind here, has worked on “Warhammer 40,000” since its first edition and participated in the development of “Warhammer: Fantasy Battles” and its sequel, “Age of Sigmar,” of which he is the author. After leaving Games Workshop, Jervis remains an active creator, as he will surely tell you during his “Work as wargames creator” panel. Besides, in the zone you will have a chance to take part in short demonstrations and instructional games, which will be conducted by fans of various war game systems, including those that our guest once worked on. Take the opportunity to get acquainted with lesser-known titles or revisit your favorite games from the past.
As you travel between tables, look out for glass display cases – it is in these cases that those competing in the Złota Pyra, a competition for figurine painters, will present their works. You, too, can try your hand at this exciting hobby by visiting the Painting Station, where prepared models, paints and brushes will be waiting for you, and experienced instructors will offer their advice.
For card game enjoyers
If you have not been exposed to collectible card games so far, be sure to visit the Board Games and War Games Zone. There will be demonstrations and instructional games introducing newcomers to the most popular card games, as well as tournaments for beginners. For the more advanced players, there are more than fifty tournaments in the making, including Magic: The Gathering, Flesh and Blood, One Piece and Pokémon
