Board Games, Wargames and Card Games Zone and ZłotaPyra at Pyrkon 2025
2 June 2025
Can you imagine a place where every die, card, and miniature comes to life through the imagination of players? It’s right here—at a table filled with boards and tokens—where alliances are forged, betrayals unfold, and epic victories are won. Whether you’re into fast party games, strategic battles, or immersive narrative experiences, the Board Games, Wargames and Card Games Zone is your gateway to total gameplay immersion. Here, every dice roll can change your fate, and each game becomes a brand-new story.
Złota Pyra – Miniature Painting Contest
Pyrkon-goers who appreciate the art of miniature painting will be able to feast their eyes on the annual Złota Pyra exhibition. Both seasoned pros and amateur painters will showcase their work—from massive war machines and terrifying monsters to lone heroes gleaming with glory.
All entries will be displayed in the Board Games, Wargames and Card Games Zone—in the space between the miniature painting booth and the info point.
And if you paint models yourself, don’t hesitate to submit your work! You don’t need to be a professional—every piece with something special has a shot at a prize.
Below you’ll find the registration form and contest rules:

A Deck Full of Adventure
If the cards have predicted you’ll have a blast at Pyrkon this year, your fortune-telling skills are spot-on! Card game fans will once again feel right at home in our zone.
Experienced tutors will introduce you to the basics of many popular titles, and at the many tables, you’ll be able to enjoy a casual game—either with friends or newly met Pyrkon-goers.
For those who prefer higher stakes or want to test their skills in a competitive setting, there will be several card game tournaments, including:
- Magic: The Gathering Big Pauper Tournament
- Grand Archive – perfect for beginners
- Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters – Pyrkon Championships
This year will also feature a brand-new mini-zone dedicated to the card game “Altered.” Special guests Lokinox and Mün will be there to enthusiastically guide you through the secrets of the Altered World and answer all your questions about the game.

A Universe on a Board
What’s rattling in your game box? A strategic feast? A deep economic challenge? Or maybe something delightfully chaotic? Perhaps instead of counting tokens and points, you prefer action-packed party games where turns fly by in a blink. Or maybe you just love rolling dice and moving pieces, letting the game surprise you with new events and opponents.
No matter your preference, the board game zone at Pyrkon is made for you. As always, you’ll find a game library packed to the brim, dozens of gaming tables, and waves of applause echoing through the hall.

This year promises something special—Thomas and Jacob Fryxelius, creators of the iconic Terraforming Mars, will be at Pyrkon! They’ll host a panel on the history and development of the game, revealing behind-the-scenes stories and future plans.
There will also be some local flavor—during the festival, the official premiere of the board game “PIG” will take place. This satirical game brings you back to our own world, full of memes, political divisions, and the absurdity of daily life.
Alongside classic board games, fans of game shows will love the board game-themed “Family Feud” style tournament.
Small Fields of Epic Battles
“Ha! Perfect shot, Hans! Now drive that tank closer—I want to hit it with my sword!”
Not everyone realizes it, but every year at Pyrkon, battle cries ring out and mighty armies clash in fierce showdowns for the fate of worlds and galaxies.
It all unfolds over tables where strategic players carefully move miniatures, aiming not only to wipe out enemy ranks but to accomplish critical objectives.

As in previous years, anyone curious about trying wargaming for the first time will have a perfect chance to do so through demo games. Enthusiasts will showcase a wide variety of titles—whether you love fast-paced action, deep strategic planning, or immersive narratives, there’s something for everyone.
Visitors can also attend lectures and workshops led by experienced hobbyists. You’ll learn not only how to paint miniatures, but also how to design wargames or create terrain using 3D printing.
See you at the table!
