All lovers of Tasha Suri’s work are about to be extremely happy. We are pleased to announce that she will be the Guest of the Literature Zone during Pyrkon 2024! And for those who have not yet had the opportunity to get to know Tasha’s novels, let us tell you she creates fantasy series very much based on South Asian culture and history. She is best known for her “Books of Ambha” dylogy (“Empire of Sand” and “Realm of Ash”) and the fantasy series “Jasmine Throne.”
A few words about Tasha and his work
The writer was born in London to a family of Bengali descent. Her cultural roots played an important role in shaping her identity and influenced the creation of plots and characters in her works.
She received the Best Newcomer (Sydney J. Bounds) Award from the British Fantasy Society and the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel. Her debut novel “Empire of Sand” was named one of the 100 best fantasy books of all time by TIME magazine.
When she’s not writing, Tasha likes to cry watching TV shows, buy too many notebooks and indulge in her geek passion – reading about South Asian history. She lives with her family in a slightly haunted house in London.
She gained recognition from readers and critics with her “Books of Ambha,” series the first part of which is “Empire of Sand.” – a book that combines elements of fantasy, mythology and Indian culture, which offers readers a fascinating journey into a magical world. The continuation of this series is “Realm of Ash.”
Then it was time for “Jasmine Throne,” a tale of political intrigue, magic and the power of sisterhood, set in ancient and mythological South Asia. Its sequel is “The Oleander Sword.”
