The Repertoire of the Film and TV Series Zone!

This year Pyrkon is breaking records when it comes to the number of attractions prepared. And the Film and TV Series Zone proudly sets its hand to it. Because we have 100 fantastic highlights for you!

Are you a fan of horror movies or superhero movies? Or do you prefer animations? Or are you looking forward to lectures on AI, music in film, zombies or dinosaurs? You don’t have to worry, because there is something for everyone in the Film and TV Series Zone!

Meet our guests

Our program is full of fantastic people from both Poland and abroad. Here you will be able to meet film scholars, sexologists, paleontologists, actors, youtubers and many others. Interested? Let us introduce a few of them:

Miranda Otto

Miranda Otto is an Australian film, television and theater actress, and you may associate her face with numerous films. However, you certainly know her from her role as Eowyn in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was this role that brought her international fame and recognition. She also starred in “Emma’s War,” “The Last Days of Chez Nous,” “Homeland” and “Chilling Adventure of Sabrina,” among others. She has won numerous awards and nominations, including the Australian Film Institute, Saturn Award and Screen Actors Guild Award.

And in 2024, as a special guest at Pyrkon, she will talk about her experiences on the set of “Lord of the Rings” and more!

Kevin McNally

He started at the age of 16 when he got a job at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. And after receiving a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, a Best Actor Bancroft Gold Medal award and numerous appearances in episodic roles, Kevin McNally gained international fame as pirate Joshamee Gibbs in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. He debuted in the role in 2003 in the first film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl” and has been there until the latest installment of the series “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge.” 

At Pyrkon you will have the opportunity not only to meet McNally, but also to hear about his experiences in the world of film and television. On Saturday on the Cosplay Zone Stage, the actor will tell you about the pirate code, working with Johnny Depp, the idea behind Mr. Gibbs’ accent, and many other behind-the-scenes tidbits from the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean”!

Michał Sikorski

He began his career at the Teatr Polski in Poznań. And although he is currently performing and delighting audiences on the stage of the Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw, he will return to Poznań for a while to talk about his work (and more!) at Pyrkon.

Repeatedly awarded and honored at various theater and film festivals, Michał Sikorski starred in one of last year’s most acclaimed series, “1670.” You got to know him there as the colorful character of Father Jakub, and this role is certainly yet another step toward fantastic development.

Alan Padziński

Alan Padziński is a fencer and choreographer, as well as a motion capture actor. You may also remember his YouTube channel, „The Sword’s Path”. He is currently a game developer and head of the Achara Studios.

Julian Jeliński

Creator of the vlog Brody z Kosmosu, one of the largest channels dedicated to pop culture, full of bearded reviews and the most cosmic look at movies, comics and the whole geek world in general! Julian Jeliński is the author of the “Worst Animations” series and co-host of the “Nightmare Horrors” podcast. He loves searching for ideology in pop culture almost as much as Slavoj Žižek. 

At Pyrkon, he’ll show you some of the worst animations, talk about nightmarish horror movies, and talk about many other topics!

Piotr Pomostowski and Adrianna Fiłonowicz

Adrianna is an Americanist and film scholar, a doctoral student at the Institute of Film, Media and Audiovisual Arts at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and an intern at Oxford University. She also wrote a book entitled. “A.I.. Steven Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence as a Magical Tale” .

Piotr holds a PhD in film studies and a is a graduate of Polish studies, as well as a musician and the author of two books, including one textbook. He is familiar with the subject of film music from the inside out, and as a film educator has worked with, among others: Filmoteka Narodowa in Warsaw.

The cast of “Vikings”

If you have watched the series “Vikings”, we have another pleasant surprise for you! At Pyrkon we will welcome not one, not two, but as many as three actors from the cast! Visiting us will be:

Clive Standen, who won praise from critics and viewers alike with his portrayal of Roll. In addition to acting, Clive Standen is a lover of fantasy, especially the Norse sagas, which describe the mythical Ragnarok. In addition, he practices martial arts and has experience as a stuntman.

Lucy Martin, a British actress who gained fame for her role as Ingrid. She joined the cast of this series in 2019, and her character was present in the sixth season. Since then, the actress has been expanding her skills onto the big screen, having already starred in three feature-length films.

As the daughter of actress Emmanuelle Seigner and director Roman Polanski, Morgane Polanski developed a passion for cinema from childhood. She joined the series “Vikings” in 2015, playing one of the main characters – Princess Gisli, and the production brought her recognition among a wider audience.

You will be able to talk to each of them during Saturday’s Q&A, which will take place on the Cosplay Zone Stage at 8:00 pm!

Besides, on Sunday you will have the opportunity to take pictures with them and ask for an autograph!


Movie night marathons

This year, for the first time, we will also host a movie night! You will be able to watch movies all night long in both the Pyrkon Cinema and the green/blue room. The theme is horror movies. We will have some classics such as “The Shining,” “The Exorcist,” and “Talk to Me!” which starred our guest Miranda Otto! But you can expect that it doesn’t stop there, and there will be something for every fan of traditional movie screenings at night!

On Friday you will see:

And this is just the beginning! The Film and TV Series Zone in cooperation with the ANIMATOR Festival has something extra in stock for you! On Saturday night you will witness the Polish preview of the film “The Primevals”! It’s an unusual horror film with animated monsters, a project by stop-motion animation enthusiast and special effects specialist David Allen. The world premiere took place in 2023, and you will see the first showing in Poland right at Pyrkon!
